gotta be in it to winning it
Ignoring Sandy Oatley’s aborted attempt to challenge for the 34th America’s Cup, it’s been a 26 years since our Australian friends have challenged for the top trophy in sailing, and today, Sydney’s Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club announced that spell is now over!
Underwriting the Australian challenge for the 38th Cup is a true sailor’s sailor and Sydney Harbor sailing royalty – John Winning, Jr. – who currently sits in 10th place at the Etchells Worlds while his yacht club rings in a new era in Aussie AC sailing. With a lifetime of helming everything from 12 feet skiffs to supermaxis in the Bass Strait and a thriving online business, Winning will hopefully have as much ability to pull together a solid team as he does passion for the sport. Rumors already abound that Tom Slingsby will drive.
Chat it up in the Aussie Challenge thread in AC Anarchy.
