the right tool for the job?

“Is this the right boat for our program?” is perhaps the most common question we see from fleet/school managers.  N00b “Matt Jacomb” asked the same.  Answer him yourself in the Dinghy Anarchy thread. Photo thanks to SA’er “Stanno”.

I work at a school and we teach sailing to our senior students. We have 6 ILCA’s that are a few decades old and in desperate need to replacement. Management and have approved a replacement plan. The options I have put on the table are either upgrading the existing fleet with new ILCA’s OR going in a different direction and purchasing something like the RS Zest which will be more durable over time due to the composite hull. Ideally we would go for something like the RS Quest, however that class is well out of our budget. I am seeking advice around what you believe the best option is for teaching teenagers sailing basics.

Thanks,
Matt
